Empty Warehouse

Custom Electric is pleased to announce another large project has just been completed on time and budget. We were chosen as the electrical contractor for the new Uni-Select Super Warehouse, a leader in the distribution of automotive refinish and industrial paint and related products in North America. Uni-Select is also a leader in the automotive aftermarket parts business in Canada and the U.K.

The Uni-Select Warehouse was a unique project for Custom Electric. We installed over 450 new fully programmable LED fixtures in the warehouse shelving areas, along with relocating 650 plus highbay fixtures. Part of the project also involved installing more than 137,000 racks/shelving for different customer SKUs.  230, 000 sq ft of shell warehouse space.

We worked closely with the lighting agent, revised some product that could not be provided in time and followed the delivery schedules very closely not letting anything slip behind. We revised the existing lighting product to a product very similar that was in stock,We hired new staff as well as rehired some previous staff that were laid off, ramped up to (24) employees within (2) weeks.

We contacted rental suppliers in advance to ensure there were sufficient lifts and tools available, they brought in lifts from other provinces and provide (14) scissor lifts within (1) week. Our purchasing dept. were providing same day service for B material orders. At our peak, we were ordering 5000’ of conduit daily.

Meeting the deadline

We were challenged with a tight deadline of 11 weeks to install all the fixtures and complete the project. Custom Electric met the deadline and turnover of the warehouse to the owners was right on schedule. The owner’s representatives were available throughout this project which allowed for open communication and decision making in a timely manner.

Full Time - Jr. Purchaser

Custom Electric is a full service electrical contracting company, with over 250 employees; we’re looking for a full time Jr. Purchaser.  This position will work directly under, including reporting to the Purchasing Manager. The role will focus on fulfilling orders, maintenance of excel cost sheets and processing supplier invoices. This is a full time position with our company offering a complete health and benefits package.

Key Responsibilities; assisting Purchase Manager in the following,

  • Material acquisition, procurement and tracking of documentation for receiving material
  • Knowledge of required quantity, budgetary constraints and cost codes
  • Maintaining database of vendor and supplier contacts, preferred/competitive pricing options including any contract changes
    • Create and maintain relationships with clients, vendors and suppliers
    • To maintain an up-to-date database of materials and accurate pricing

Skills and/or qualifications we are looking for;

  •         Excellent verbal and written skills, strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
  •         Being able to work quickly whereas maintaining a high level of productivity throughout the day
  •         Analytical expertise including the ability to set priorities while meet tight deadlines
  •         Understanding of the construction/trades industry is required
  •         Well defined conflict resolution and people management skills would be an essential
  •         Represent the company in a professional and ethical manner in addition to maintain relationships with teammates
  •         Knowledge of software programs used for purchasing and experience in Sage would be an asset
  •         Strong computer skills in MS Office applications including excellent proficiency level in excel
  •         Completion of post-secondary program would be considered an asset

Salary range; $50,000 - $55,000
