Custom Electric Proudly Sponsors the Fourth Annual Drive, Chip, & Putt Golf Tournament for Prader-Willi Syndrome
Recently, Custom Electric was proud to provide sponsorship and participate in the 4th Annual Chip and Putt Golf Tournament in Support of Prader Willi Syndrome.
The tournament was held at Lakeside Greens Golf Course in Chestermere, was a lot of fun, and a great success, raising over $16,000 for the Foundation for Prader-Willi Syndrome Canada (FPWR Canada).
Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) is a genetic disorder that occurs in approximately one out of every 15,000 live births. PWS affects males and females with equal frequency and affects all races and ethnicities. In addition, PWS is recognized as the most common genetic cause of childhood obesity.
In addition to obesity, a variety of other symptoms can be associated with Prader-Willi syndrome. For example, individuals usually exhibit global development delay, cognitive challenges, and hyperphagia. Other issues may include speech apraxia/dyspraxia, short stature, small hands and feet, scoliosis, sleep disturbances with excessive daytime sleepiness, high pain threshold, and infertility.
FPWR Canada was established in 2006 by parents of children with Prader-Willi Syndrome. The mission of FPWR Canada is to eliminate the challenges of Prader-Willi Syndrome through the advancement of research. High-quality research will lead to more effective treatments and an eventual cure for this disorder. More information on Prader-Willi Syndrome can be found on FPWR Canada’s website, www.fpwr.ca
