Building Information Modeling
An electrical industry early adopter of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and VDC (Virtual Design & Construction), Custom Electric combines technology and innovation to provide our clients with full 3D modeling and 3D modeling-to-fabrication services. Completing our service offering, Custom Electric also specializes in virtual spatial layouts using Trimble’s Robotic Total Station (RTS) and prefabrication. Our BIM, VDC, and Fabrication teams are located at our 15,000 square foot fabrication facility in NE Calgary.
Virtual Design & Construction
For almost 10 years, our VDC team has innovatively leveraged BIM technology and processes to holistically increase collaboration of project teams throughout the design stage well before our boots hit the ground at the client’s job site. BIM and VDC processes deployed during preconstruction increases communication and issue resolution early in the project’s lifecycle, which directly leads to a reduction in waste throughout project delivery. Waste is further reduced by our implementation of Lean manufacturing and project delivery principles.
Prefabrication
Combining BIM, VDC, and prefabrication with proven constructability, cost control, speed-to-market, and quality processes greatly reduces project execution risk. We control quality and the fabrication process the entire way, from the beginning of fabrication in our 15,000 square foot facility to the delivery and installation of equipment and components at our clients’ sites.
