The John Ware Building has anchored SAIT’s School of Hospitality and Tourism since 1958. Phase 2 of its revitalization — a $41 million investment by the Government of Alberta, managed by GGA Architecture and Chandos Construction — is completing what Phase 1 started: a comprehensive interior transformation that will establish the building as a Centre of Excellence for culinary programs and add 150 student seats.
Custom Electric delivered the electrical scope for the interior renovation, which includes upgraded mechanical and electrical systems, new teaching kitchens, classroom additions, and full accessibility upgrades throughout. Construction has been phased to keep the building operational and the broader campus unaffected — a coordination challenge that demands disciplined scheduling and trade collaboration.
The fully revitalized John Ware Building is scheduled for completion in 2026.
