Canada Olympic Park has been part of Calgary’s identity since the 1988 Winter Olympics. The Day Lodge at its base — originally the Olympic media centre — is now undergoing its first major transformation in nearly 40 years: a $40 to $43 million renovation and expansion that will carry the facility well into its next chapter.
The project combines a 55,000-square-foot renovation of the existing structure with a 42,000-square-foot expansion, targeting net-zero carbon performance, barrier-free access from the parking lot to the slopes, and significantly improved rental, food service, and public circulation. Funding was provided jointly by the Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta, with WinSport contributing the balance through sponsorship and philanthropy.
Custom Electric delivered the electrical scope for both the renovation and the expansion, supporting a facility that serves more than 1.2 million visitors annually.
Construction began in mid-2024. The project is nearing completion.
